About Us

The men who came to El Campo in the 1890's were builders; men of vision, who believed that the mud plagued cattle camp could become a city in which to build their homes and raise their families. They soon realized that the town would need local sources of finance in order to grow and prosper. The First National Bank originated from the Koch and Poole Mercantile Company, established in the late 1800's. On December 3, 1901, a group of visionary men met and agreed to establish First National Bank of El Campo. Their dreams materialized on January 22, 1902. The new "city hall" was located in two rooms on the second floor of the bank.

In the late 1940's, the existing banking facility needed some physical improvements; and remodeling plans were solidified on January 24, 1950. Both the interior and exterior were remodeled. After these renovations, this facility continued to be the home of First National Bank, but property was purchased on April 20, 1965 for a future new home.

The dream of new facilities was realized with grand opening events held on February 3, 1968. It was said to be one of the most magnificent and most modern bank buildings in the area. In 1979 as the bank continued to grow, a multi-lane motor bank was constructed to help serve the customer.

Thursday, May 19, 1989 began a new era of opportunity, as the First National Bank acquired Security Bank and Trust Company in Wharton, Texas. In the months that followed the existing location was moved to its remodeled original 1907 location at 101 E. Milam Street in Wharton.

First National Bank in Rosenberg was opened on December 3, 2001.  This was the first branch opened outside of Wharton County.  The Rosenberg branch is located on the corner of Avenue H and 6th Street.

On January 22, 2002 the shareholders of First National Bank approved NewFirst National Bank as the new bank name.  NewFirst National Bank was then implemented as the new bank name on July 1, 2002.

Working towards greater growth and service to the community, NewFirst National Bank opened a fourth branch in North Houston on December 11, 2003.  The Houston branch is located along the North Sam Houston Parkway.

The Victoria Branch was opened on June 1, 2005 and is located on Navarro Street.  NewFirst National Bank currently owns two properties in Victoria, one property under construction along Zac Lentz Parkway that plans to be completed in March 2008 and another property to be constructed in 2009.

NewFirst National Bank opened two more locations in Fort Bend County.  The Needville Branch opened on July 11, 2005 and on April 24, 2006, the Sugar Land Branch was opened.  NewFirst National Bank also owns an additional property in Needville along Hwy. 36.  The addition of these two branches in Fort Bend County added to the Rosenberg location and gave customers the banking convenience they needed.

On April 28, 2008 the Victoria branch re-located to their new facility on the corner of Loop 463 and Highway 87 at 10301 N.E. Zac Lentz Parkway.  This new facility brings many new features along with multiple drive-thru lanes to meet the financial needs of our customers.

A third location, El Campo North, was opened in Wharton County on July 9, 2008 at 3703 FM 2765 in El Campo.  This additional location with extended hours was added to conveniently serve our customers.

For over 100 years, NewFirst National Bank has played an integral part in the financial soundness of Wharton County, Fort Bend County, Harris County and Victoria County serving each of its customers with pride. Over the years, we have provided our customers with the strength and stability that has earned their respect and trust.
